FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION — DEBT RECOVERY
Investigate the recovery options before spending more money
An unpaid invoice, loan or damages award costs more than money: it also consumes time and energy. When the debtor no longer responds or appears to keep assets and business activities out of sight, you want to avoid spending more without knowing whether recovery may be possible.
Dutch Detective Agency investigates possible income, companies, property and other relevant recovery opportunities. We conduct investigations in the Netherlands and, where required, internationally.
You receive a clear report that helps your lawyer, collection specialist or judicial officer determine which next steps may be effective.

What is a debt recovery investigation?
A debt recovery investigation identifies income, companies, property and other components of value that may be relevant to recovering an existing claim.
You receive a factual picture that helps your lawyer, collection specialist or judicial officer assess whether further steps are worthwhile. Dutch Detective Agency investigates and reports; legal collection and enforcement are carried out by the authorised professionals.
Avoid further costs without understanding recovery prospects
Winning proceedings does not automatically result in payment. An investigation may be valuable for an unpaid invoice, loan or damages award, a debtor who no longer responds or has moved abroad, or indications that activities or assets have been moved.
By investigating the available leads first, you can better assess whether further collection or legal costs are justified.
Individual and corporate debtors
For an individual, the investigation may examine current identity and residence indicators, employment and income signals, companies, business interests, property, relevant assets and public insolvency information.
For a company, we may also examine directors, connected businesses, locations, available financial information and notable changes in activity, structure or ownership. This provides context rather than a disconnected list of assets.
When the debtor can no longer be located
If no usable address is available, debt recovery investigation can be combined with address research into a current residence, contact or business location and relevant activities. A dissolved company does not always mean that every useful lead has disappeared.
Dutch and international investigations
A debtor may use foreign companies or hold assets outside the Netherlands. The information and assets that can be investigated depend on the claim, legal basis, available identifiers and countries involved. Following a confidential assessment, we explain which investigative options are available.
How a debt recovery investigation works
1. Submit the claim
You explain the origin and amount of the claim, steps already taken and available information concerning the debtor. Do not submit a judgment, identity document or complete case file through the standard contact form.
2. We assess feasibility
We assess the legitimate investigative interest, available identifiers, countries involved and possible research directions.
3. Receive an investigation proposal
The proposal explains the recommended scope, expected depth, completion time and costs.
4. The investigation is conducted
We examine the agreed financial, corporate, personal and international leads. Findings are checked and assessed together.
5. Receive the report
The report contains relevant recovery opportunities, supporting findings, source references, points of concern and limitations.
A report for focused next steps
The report may contain identity and address information, employment and income indicators, companies, business interests, relevant property, international connections, historical developments and source references. Unconfirmed information and limitations are clearly identified.
Recovery also depends on ownership, current value, encumbrances, other creditors and applicable law. An identified asset is therefore a lead, not a guarantee of enforcement or payment.
Investigation and enforcement are separate stages
The report can be provided directly to your lawyer, collection specialist or judicial officer. They assess which procedure or measure may be available. Dutch Detective Agency does not seize assets or perform official enforcement acts.
Focused, lawful and confidential
We operate within the law and only after assessing a specific, demonstrable claim and legitimate investigative interest. The available options, depth and relevant sources are discussed confidentially; the public website does not provide a complete overview.
A creditworthiness investigation is usually conducted before an agreement. Debt recovery investigation concerns an existing claim. Broader asset tracing may also serve other legal or financial purposes.
Submit your claim simply
Send the debtor’s name, country involved, amount of the claim and a brief outline by email or through the contact form. Do not send judgments, identity documents, agreements or a complete file yet; after assessment, we agree a suitable secure route.
You first receive clear information about feasibility, scope, completion time and costs. Available by telephone and digital channels 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
